As an example of just how well American engineers can match their European peers when left to their own devices, the Cadillac CTS-V is a monumental achievement.

It's tremendously fast, navigating the hallowed Nurburgring under the magic eight-minute mark.

Thanks to a limited-slip rear differential and magnificently sorted all-wheel independent suspension it handles lateral force loads remarkably well too. The CTS-V then, is an American tonic to sombre German supersedan domination.

Trust a German then, to offer the option of putting even more distance between this curiously accomplished American four-door rogue and the best uber sedans the Fatherland has to offer.

Geometric design not the last word in Cadillac elegance. Has the performance to back up fast-lane highway position rights...

Karl's mad-cap four-door

Renowned American car fanatic and tuning genius Karl Geiger has turned up the boost on CTS-V, elevating engine output and performance potential to unjustifiable levels.

With the CTS-V being powered in standard trim by an almighty Corvette sourced 6.2-litre supercharged V8 (featuring comically outdated pushrod driven valve-gear) it hardly lacks for power.

Thanks to a sixth generation Eaton supercharger the CTS boasts 415kW and 745Nm rolling off the showroom floor.

Geiger’s technicians though, think the 6.2l engine has an appreciably generous mechanical strain safety margin worth exploring.

Replacing the outstanding Eaton forced induction system was always going to be foolhardy, so Geiger’s technicians optioned on increasing the charge pressure instead and fashion a new custom made exhaust system.

As subtle as a kick in the head, the Corvette sourced supercharged V8 is massaged to deliver 455kW and 850Nm - which is plenty in case you were wondering.

Seamlessly poweful

A clever ECU rechip ensures everything harmonises nicely.

In fact, it harmonises very nicely, to the tune of 455kW worth of power and an alarming 850Nm of peak rotational force.

In the interest of accelerative symmetry Geiger has shortened both the fifth and sixth gears, yet the tuned CTS-V still runs a 330km/h top speed.

The remainder of this rather mad CTS-V tuning kit from Geiger comprises new ventilated brake rotors and calipers front and rear. These should guarantee massively reassuring deceleration from the suicidal cruising speeds easily attained by the Geiger CTS-V.

The full package (including a stock CTS-V) comes at a price of €84 900.
