The all-new Mitsubishi Triton is stronger, safer, more manoeuvrable, more powerful - yet more economical - and offers much more comfort as well as a superior drive.

Setting new standards on the road

Never before has a bakkie looked and driven like the new Mitsubishi Triton. Gone is the old torsion bar front suspension that is traditional amongst bakkies, and in its place are independent double front wishbones and rear coiled-springs - just as tough but giving you a far more comfortable ride. Gone is the old recirculating ball steering and in its place is a power assisted rack and pinion set up, which gives the Triton a superior turning circle, for greater manoeuvrability.

More power

New in the Mitsubishi Triton is common rail direct injection technology. The new 2,5 litre, turbocharged, intercooled engine is a much quieter, cleaner and more economical power-plant than any of its competitors. Meeting Euro 4 emission standards and delivering ample torque at low speeds, whilst greatly reducing fuel emissions through efficient fuel injection, the 2,5 litre engine offers 100 kW / 3 500 r/min of power and 314 Nm / 2 000 r/min of torque.

After much refinement, the fuel consumption is extremely economical - 8,6 litres per 100 km.

Outstanding comfort

Mitsubishi bakkies have always been synonymous with outstanding build quality and excellent levels of specification. The new Mitsubishi Triton is revolutionary. The dash is shapely, the dials stunning and the ergonomics exceptional.

Electric windows, automatic air-conditioning, a MP3 and CD player, and radio with four-speaker audio system are a few of the standard features.

The cab of the new Mitsubishi Triton is extremely spacious, one of the biggest in its class, and the comfortable seats with a variety of height adjustments for the driver make for all round comfort and safety. Conveniently placed stowage areas enhance the spaciousness of the vehicle.

Master of tough terrain

Mitsubishi have long been the master of tough terrain. The Super Select system offers on-road two-wheel drive and the same two off-road modes plus a rear differential system. In slippery situations the standard hybrid type limited slip diff transfers torque to the wheel with the most grip, whilst the heavier-duty rear diff lock operates only in 4LLc to lock the differential so that both rear wheels run together.

Safety

The new Mitsubishi Triton is tougher, stronger and safer than ever before. An exceptionally substantial ladder frame chassis has improved torsional rigidity by 50% and longitudinal rigidity by 70%, making it not only safer but far more stable too.

The Anti-lock Braking System with Electronic Brake-force Distribution prevents tyres from locking in emergency stops, giving control at the times when you really need it. Standard safety features include dual front airbags and front seat belt pre-tentioners. The rear sears are fitted with the three-point rear seat belt as standard.

Proven muscle in the Dakar

The new Mitsubishi Triton Evolution completed the Dakar for the second time, making its debut in the hostile conditions of the 2005 Dakar Rally. Mitsubishi is known to use the technological and engineering experience gained on the Dakar in all their production vehicles.

Since the new Mitsubishi Triton is stronger, safer, more stable and more powerful than its predecessor, a vehicle which has proved its worth many times in world class cross country rallying, there is no doubt that there will be more success in the world of rallying.

Warranty

Mitsubishi are industry pioneers as far as the three-year/60 000 km service plan offered on the Mitsubishi Double Cab is concerned, and the other bakkies in the range come with a two-year/100 000 km warranty as standard. Service intervals vary from 10 000km for the diesel models and 15 000 km for the petrol variants.

Mitsubishi also offers a maintenance plan as an option to its customers.

Price: VAT inclusive

The Mitsubishi Triton will retail at R307 900 with the high-grade fabric interior and R315 900 with leather seats and the electric driver seat package.
