Laupheim based tuner, Hamann, has done the unthinkable and made Bentley’s Continental GT even more politically incorrect.

Hamann, as one of Germany’s most revered aftermarket tuning concerns, is not intimidated by the prospect of embellish the styling and fettling the dynamics of some of the world’s most bespoke cars.

One phat Bentley

Witness its latest offering then, the curiously named Hamann Imperator (a what?), which essentially is a pimped Bentley Continental GT Speed. Despite the standard Bentley already possessing significant styling presence, Hamann has added a sixteen piece wide-body styling kit.

Dimensionally the styling kit adds 70mm of body width, and consists of redesigned front bumper with larger air intakes, both front and rear wings, new side skirts, a boot lid spoiler and airflow stabilising rear diffuser. LED fetishists will be heartened to see a sprinkling of light emitting diodes framing those new front air intakes.

Small power increase

From a performance perspective, Hamann has liberated some additional engine power via a new exhaust system, high-flow catalytic converters and a reprogrammed ECU. Engine power duly increases from 449kW to 478kW and rotational force from 750Nm to 840Nm.

Dynamically balancing the additional engine power and subsequent performance is a recalibrated air-suspension control unit, which drops the Bentley’s ride height by 30mm on the front axle and 20mm on the rear. The Imperator rolls on a set of 22-inch, multi-spoke alloy wheels, featuring a high-gloss, polished rim flange and a black anodized rim star.

Interior modification centre primarily around application of exotic trim materials, including clear-coated carbon-fibre trim everywhere leather could not be stitched, and of course, an obligatory aluminum pedal set and a sport steering wheel.
