That was Opel's recipe for success, and it secured the Kapitan third place among Germany's new car registrations. After the Opel Olympia Rekord, and the VW Beetle.

The first Kapitan was built with the same design as the 1938's Kadet and Olimpia and lasted right through World War II. And was succeeded by this best selling six cylinder Opel Kapitan sedan just after 1953.
It wasn't until the 1960s when Opel revised this model.
