Gallery - 2012 SA Car of the Year finalists

A Wheels24 readers' poll about which vehicle should be the 2012 South African Car of the Year has so far attracted 14 913 votes.

Back in late 2011 we reported on the 10 SA Guild of Motoring Journalists' finalists for the South Africa's Car of the Year nominees.

HERE'S HOW THEY SCORED...

Ford's Focus (3197 votes) may have been trouncing Hyundai's Elantra in December 2011 but since then the Korean automaker's stylish hatchback/sedan has edged to the front. The Elantra is now ahead with 3420 votes, the Ford Focus lies second overall with 3197 votes.

Alfa Romeo Giulietta's has claimed third place with 2002 votes, just a head of Volkswagen's Jetta in fourth with 1950 votes.

The fifth most popular vehicle in our poll is Audi's A6 (1286 votes) followed by the  Mercedes-Benz SLK (899 votes) and Suzuki's Kizashi (775 votes) in sixth and seventh place respectively.

Which car will claim the 2011 COTY title will be up to the guild judges to decide later in 2012. Our readers however seem to be torn between US and Korean automakers new rides.
