LONDON, England - Mercedes-Benz has risen up the rankings in the UK's latest What Car? / JD Power ownership satisfaction survey at third overall and taking the 'top family car' title with its C-Class.
The survey refers to the W204 range, overtaken in South Africa this week with the launch of the W205.
Mercedes-Benz featured prominently in a survey taking in the views of more than 15 000 owners of cars registered between January 2011 and December 2012 and covering 27 brands while focusing on a diverse range of attributes from reliability and quality to comfort, performance and economy.
The survey claims to be the most detailed and comprehensive of its kind.
MOST SATISFYING
The C-Class finished in fourth, making it the UK’s most satisfying family car, according to the survey, gaining "particular praise for its efficient and powerful range of engines, comfort features and styling".
Gary Savage, CEO of Mercedes-Benz UK, said: "Winning the family-car class is an achievement of which we're proud, not least because it’s possibly the most demanding segment of all. Our customers rightly depend on their Mercedes-Benz and our dealers work hard to exceed expectations.
"Likewise, our engineers and designers go to extraordinary lengths to ensure our cars meet the exacting standards of safety, comfort, versatility and quality expected of any Mercedes-Benz."
The W204 series was launched in 2007 and accounts for more than 165 000 registrations in the UK and 2.4-million registrations globally, making it Mercedes' most popular single model.
In May 2014 Wheels24 reported that Mercedes-Benz SA is hailing its new W205 C-Class “the pride of East London” as local production of its next-generation sedan commences for local and export markets.
