Butt-naked Audi R8 V10 screams

2013-03-12 14:21

Audi has taken the back off its new R8 V10 plus supercar for a video which allows a clear view of the 410kW engine in action - and the full aural show.

Watch the video

The film, which captures the excitement of the R8 accelerating to full throttle, has already been viewed over 205 000 times since it first went live on YouTube.

PUSHING BOUNDARIES

Thanks to augmented-reality technology - used for the first time by Audi – users of the free image-recognition app Blippar are able to view this video by pointing their phone at print and poster advertisements of the car, instantly bringing 2D photographs to life.

Kristian Dean, national communications manager for Audi UK, said: "The car pushes boundaries in terms of performance and innovation. The use of Blippar technology allows people to interact immediately with the car and get under its bonnet in a way they simply would not be able to do with a 2D advertisement alone. The new video content gives car enthusiasts the opportunity to hear the R8 V10 plus being taken to the red line.

"Augmented reality opens up a whole new world of marketing potential and will only become more exciting as more brands embrace such apps. Audi is proud to be one of the first major brands to use this new technology - an approach in keeping with the company philosophy of Vorsprung durch Technik."

      Mario Botes - 2013-03-13 14:17

You didn't care to read the article neh slimjan?? I would pay much more for a naked Audi R8 any day before I buy many other full bodied cars!!!

      Bafana.Ndlovu - 2013-03-13 14:32

The car would not pass safety checks

      Mario Botes - 2013-03-13 14:51

Did you know that your condition is permanent....there are no medication for stupidity! Jealousy makes you nasty and dumber than a tree trunk!! Go drive your Corolla....hahaha!!!!

      Bafana.Ndlovu - 2013-03-13 14:55

Water would just get in the engine and drown you.

      Mario Botes - 2013-03-13 15:03

I guess that saying about the books are true.......hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!

      Bafana.Ndlovu - 2013-03-13 15:10

I prefer the bodied version, I doubt there would be a market for this car

      Mario Botes - 2013-03-13 16:59

You'll be surprised at what niche market the Germans can create, I mean their education standards are much higher than SA's, they don't strike or take tea breaks or have funerals every 2 weeks. They go to work sober after a long weekend, if they even take a long weekend?? But I don't think you'll understand this seeing that you think you would drown when rain goes into the engine....haha. Shame...its only rain you know!!

As a halo vehicle r8 is pretty underwhelming durch tecnik, Ill take the Lexus Lfa over it any day.

  • Sicebi Mthethwa - 2013-03-17 16:50

Nice but if you want super car sonic bliss, listen to the Lexus LFA. That is the benchmark.

  • Tieno Bloubul - 2013-03-18 17:23

Man a Audi R8 with a 600kw twin turbo V8 will be nice, these old NA engines are so outdated....
