BUNKER ON WHEELS: Dartz Motorz Company has built the Prombron White Horse, a monster SUV. Image: Dartz Motorz Company

LATVIA, Russia - Dartz, a bespoke automaker, has come up with a seriously chunky, heavily armoured SUV (not what you think) designed to appeal to the super-rich in China.

The Prombron White Horse is a dazzling white version of Dartz's Black Dragon announced in 2012 with some model-specific gold highlights and the overall air of a bunker on wheels.

Dartz aims to sell a dozen or so with an extended wheelbase to provide rear-seat legroom.

The cladding includes armour-glass as thick as a phone book that can withstand a volley from a Kalashnikov rifle.

The Dartz SUV take a design cue from military vehicles. According to the maker, in the case of the White Horse, the acronym SUV stands for safety utility vehicle - told you!

The White Horse can be powered by a General Motors V8 turbodiesel or a petrol Vortec unit.

Dartz says it will officially unveil the White Horse soon at a major trade show and it will go on sale in China around the middle of 2014. Dartz says discretion prevents it from announcing the price but industry sources said the SUV would probably cost around a cool R106-million.
