Boxer vs WRC star: Adams meets Neuville

HIGH WYCOMBE, England – What happens when an Olympic boxer and World Rally championship driver are paired in a rally-tuned Hyundai?

Olympic champion and Hyundai ambassador Nicola Adams met with Hyundai WRC driver Thierry Neuville to swap pace notes on rally driving and boxing.

Adams, the first woman to win an Olympic boxing title, experienced what it’s like to be rally co-driver as Neuville, who finished second in the 2013 WRC season, raced through Goodwood’s Forest Rally Stage in West Sussex, England.

'THIERRY TRIED TO SCARE ME'

Adams commented: “I was so excited to be offered this opportunity and I wasn’t disappointed.  It was just so cool. Everything happens so fast and you’ve got to be really skilful to drive one of these cars. Absolutely awesome - this has to be my new sport."

“I think Thierry tried to scare me a little but I got my own back when I invited him into the ring after."

Adam's had her revenge as she Thierry joined her in a boxing ring. She won an Olympic gold medal at the 2012 Olymic games in London, England. Adams will be competing at the 2014 Commonwealth Games from July 23 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Neuville commented:  “It was a great honour for me to meet Nicola. We both share the strong determination to win and she really is at the top of her game.  I wish her the best of luck in the forthcoming Commonwealth Games.

Neuville, who finished third at the 2014 Polish rally, celebrated his second podium in the 2014 WRC season. He will compete at the next round of the series – 2014 Rally of Finland from July 31.

JOURNO'S ORGASMIC WRC i20 RIDE

It's not the first time in 2014 that Thierry entertained a female co-driver. In April 2014, Wheels24 reported on motoring journalist Rosanna Tennant, from Pole Position magazine, going for spin with Hyundai's rally star.

Her "excitement" and hilarious facial expressions will have you laughing uncontrollably.
