BARCELONA, Spain - Rising Finnish Formula 1 driver Valtteri Bottas has confirmed his and the revived Williams team's resurgence with fourth on the grid, ahead of both Ferraris, for Sunday's Spanish GP.
Bottas, 24 and in his second F1 season, is one of only four drivers to have scored points in every one of 2014's four races to date, pulled a big performance out of the bag just when it was needed.
He had been out-performed by much more experienced Brazilian team mate Felipe Massa throughout the weekend until Q3 when Massa lost seven-tenths of a second in the final sector.
'BULLS LOOK QUICK'
Bottas said: "It feels really nice, it was quite a tough weekend until qualifying. We made some big set-up changes for qualifying and it really made a big difference. I had much more confidence in the car.
"I'm happy with P4 (fourth place). Here it's difficult to overtake so I'm looking forward to it. Mercedes is unbeatable, Red Bull looks quick, but after that it should be a good race."
