PRETORIA, Gauteng - A man who ran out of fuel on a Pretoria freeway has been killed, apparently by a black BMW carrying "blue lights" that failed to remain at the scene.

According to the Centurion Rekord the incident happened on the N14 Ben Schoeman Highway at the junction with Jean Avenue in Pretoria on February 25. The BMW was driven off soon after the incident.

Police said the man who died had been with a black Toyota Conquest. He had run out of fuel and was waiting for some to be delivered when he was hit by a car.

WITNESSES NEEDED

Police want help to identify the 'blue lights' vehicle. Warrant Officer Christo van Rensburg said: “We are not sure if it is part of the 'blue light' brigade.

We are calling on any witnesses with information about this black BMW to contact us on 082 081 1781 or to report to the Wierdabrug SAPS."
