• Great sales success in 2015
• SA’s most popular two-seater
• F-Type in high demand
PRETORIA - The Jaguar F-Type is South Africa’s most popular sports car, outselling its two-seater competitors from Germany, Japan and Italy, claims the automaker.
So far, in 2015, sales of the F-Type place it well in the lead.
Jaguar Land Rover South Africa’s marketing and communications director Lisa Mallett said: “F-Type has been a popular choice in its segment, since its launch, yet it remains exclusive.
SPOILT FOR CHOICE
“With an eye-catching design F-Type buyers can have a car that lets them stand out. Its stunning exterior is complemented by a beautifully finished interior, and its selection of powerful engines makes it a true iconic sports car. ”
Introduced in 2013, nearly 600 units have been sold between launch and June 2015. Of those, more than 100 units were sold in the first six months of 2015, while its nearest competitor shifted 70 units during the same period.
Buyers can choose between three convertible and four coupé variants, as well as supercharged V6 and V8 engines offering between 250kW - 405kW. The convertible version has proven most popular with buyers with 65% of sales accounting for it.
Accounting for 9% of all F-Type sales is the R Coupé, the current South African land-speed record-holder for production cars, with a speed of 294.68km/h. An elite number of these cars have been specified with a carbon fibre roof and Jaguar’s high-performance carbon ceramic brake system.
The three most popular colour choices are white, silver and red while the most-chosen interior options were the supportive performance seats and luxurious premium leather trim.
“Later this year five special F-Types will be added to the sales figures, as Special Vehicle Operations’ F-Type Project 7 makes its way to South Africa,” says Mallett. “With only 250 being made, Project 7 will be something very special for motoring connoisseurs who want the ultimate F-Type and the ultimate in exclusivity."
