Like the normally aspirated XK model, the new XKR, which is available as a coupe and cabriolet, makes intelligent use of practical, modern technology such as its aluminium monocoque body structure.
But the real difference between the XK and XKR is reserved for what is lurking under the latter's bonnet. It features a 4.2-litre supercharged V8 which thrusts outs 310 kW and 560 Nm. The engine is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.
Naturally top speed is limited to 250 km/h but the XKR jets from 0-100 km/h in about 4.9 seconds.
The XKR?s powerful statement of intent is emphatically reinforced by enhanced sporting styling cues such as a unique front bumper, aluminium-finish grilles and bonnet louvres.
While sporty 19 and 20-inch alloy wheel designs and a quad-exhaust system add to its overall presence.
