• Organisers of the South Africa Festival of Motoring (FoM), Messe Frankfurt, confirm the fifth edition of the event for 2021.

• Presented by Wesbank, the FoM is set for 26-29 August at the Kyalami Grand Prix circuit.

• The event needs to serve as the industry catapult for partcipants says the festival's head of marketing.

Messe Frankfurt South Africa confirmed the Festival of Motoring will return to the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit from 26 – 29 August 2021.

Event organisers, Messe Frankfurt South Africa, announced in May that the 2020 edition would be postponed due to the impact of the coronavirus.

The 2021 event will be fifth edition and the festival remains the largest industry supported event say the organisers.

What can people expect

Content for the event has been amped by the inclusion of five national motorsport events, an electrical vehicle village, a revamped 4x4 village and a gaming arcade.

The 2021 event will implement a social investment programme, "The FoM Charity Drive" allowing involvement from all participants.

"We are ready to roll out our extensive marketing campaign starting in 2020 to maintain momentum for 2021, for festival stakeholders," says Head of Marketing, Melissa Bender.

"We are also excited to kick-off the campaign with a brand-new, fully-responsive website allowing visitors and exhibitors to keep up-to-date with the latest developments. Targeting and positioning is the golden thread that runs throughout the plan. The Festival of Motoring needs to serve as the industry catapult, to build and maintain brand value for our participants," Bender says.

Impact of the coronavirus

"Whilst the pandemic has been an unfortunate setback for the events industry as a whole, we are optimistic and excited to celebrate the evolution of the Festival of Motoring," says show director, Judy Maharaj.
