2017 World Car of the Year: All the nominees

Paris - In September 2016, the 10 finalists for the South African Car of the Year 2017 were revealed by the South African Guild of Motoring Journalist (SAGMJ).

The 2017 South African Car of the Year winner will be announced at a black tie event on March 15, 2017.

In October, the nominees for the World Car of the Year 2017 were revealed at the the 2016 Paris motor show. Three cars, sold locally, have made it to both local and international lists: Honda Civic, Jaguar F-Pace, and Volkswagen Tiguan.

World car competition

There are five catergories: World Car of the Year, World Luxury / Performance Car, World Green Car, World Car Design of the Year and the inaugural World Urban Car. 

For the 2017 awards, 73 international automotive jurors will perform test-drives of the finalists in Los Angeles in November 2016. The top three finalists in each category will be announced at the 2017 Geneva international motor show in March. 

The winners’ announcement will be done at a high-profile awards ceremony at the New York International motor show on April 13 2017.
