WATCH: This is now the fastest 'four-seat' production car to lap the Nurburgring

Due in South Africa next year, the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S will land sporting a nifty accolade - the fastest four-seat production car to lap the famous Nurburgring Nordschleife track. 

Powered by a snarling twin-turbocharged V8 engine producing 470kW and 900Nm, the GT 63 S scampers from 0-100km/h in a claimed time of 3.2 seconds and runs out of puff at 315km/h

Mercedes said: "With an officially certified and notarized lap time of 7:25:41, the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S 4MATIC+ is now the fastest fully-fledged four-seater production car to ever conquer the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife! Watch Mercedes-AMG Development Engineer Demian Schaffert achieving this incredible feat."
