2019 Toyota GR Supra

Toyota has finally revealed its SA-bound Supra.

By now you should know that the 2019 Toyota Supra shares most of its components with the BMW Z4.

Many Toyota fans have expressed their disapproval at the dependency on BMW for the new Supra. Fact of the matter is, BMW has a long, proud history of building sports cars and partnering with the Germans made sense to the Japanese.

The Supra shares the same engine with the new Z4, both of which are coming to SA in  2019. It has a displacement of  an in-line six-cylinder 3.0-litre engine and features a twin-scroll turbocharger to produce 250kW and 500Nm.

One of our favourite Youtube channels, Engineering Explained, takes a closer, technical look at the B58 engine that powers both cars.
