Sean Parker recently got behind the wheel of the Jaguar E-Pace, the firm's latest model, first launched in South Africa in late 2017.

Let's get it out of the way, the Jaguar E-Pace we have had on test costs a lot of money. Our P300 HSE test unit is priced from R875 000 and that's without even glancing at the options list.

Having said that, the baby SUV's perceived build quality is good, it's powered by a strong engine and well, it has that leaping Jaguar on the badge.

If we take out the measuring tape, the E-Pace is 1649mm high, 1900mm wide and has ground clearance of 200mm. It falls into the (very) premium compact SUV category and competes against the Volvo XC40 and BMW X2.

What's it like to drive?

We didn't venture off road in the pricey SUV, but in normal day-to-day driving conditions it performed admirably.

The steering has enough weight to feel like you're driving a Jag and then there's the more than decent poke from the 2.0-litre turbocharged engine: 221kW and 400Nm are not figures to be scoffed at.
