Ford is entering a new era of electric vehicles, and the Mustang is the first vehicle to benefit from this new direction. Everyone's favourite pony car will be an electric sibling richer in 2021 when the electric Mustang makes its appearance.
But it's not just an electric Mustang for the road that Ford is readying. The Blue Oval will also participate in several racing series with its new all-electric Mustang, with a prototype making an appearance at an imminent NASCAR race.

The Mustang Mach-E 1400 is a one-of-a-kind sample that's been produced in collaboration with RTR Vehicles to demonstrate the performance possibilities of electric propulsion. Readers will recall the all-electric Mustang Cobra Jet 1400. The Mach-E 1400 follows on that car's heels and produces peak outputs of 1045kW from its 56.8kWh battery. Following more than 10 000 hours of development, the Mach-E 1400 is projected to produce more than 1000kg of downforce at 257km/h!
The Mustang Mach-E 1400 has seven motors - five more than even Mustang Mach-E GT. Three are attached to the front differential, and four are attached to the rear, with a single driveshaft connecting them to the differentials.
Ron Heiser, chief programme engineer on the Mustang Mach-E, says: "Now is the perfect time to leverage electric technology, learn from it, and apply it to our portfolio. Mustang Mach-E is going to be fun to drive, just like every other Mustang before it, but Mustang Mach-E 1400 is completely insane!"
