The Civic Type R has been dubbed one of the best-driving hot hatches around.

Powered by a 4-cylinder, turbocharged engine packing 228kW of power, it's not only a dream on the racetrack. It is also good for everyday use.

Honda has always been the masters of naturally aspirated tuning and the use of advanced camshaft technology more commonly known as VTEC found in a variety of its high performance models.

The Honda Civic Type R has also been voted as a finalist for the 2019 SA Car of the Year.

Even though it sports something of an extravagant bodykit with all sorts of spoilers and diffusers, its power cannot be questioned.

With the new Type R, Honda decided to venture into the world of 'dark arts' and use forced induction on its first Type R model. The result is wide smiles and that warm fuzzy feeling as boost builds up. I know this because I experienced it first hand as a vehicle on test at our offices.
