Sunday 24 May should have been Charles Leclerc's home race. Instead, the Monegasque driver was hoofing around the principality's streets on Sunday morning in the most powerful Ferrari yet: the SF90 Stradale.

Leclerc stars in a short film directed by Claude Lelouch "Le Grand Rendez-Vous", inspired by his famous "C'était Un Rendez-Vous" filmed in 1976.

The original film was an eight-minute drive through Paris during the early hours of a Sunday morning. The audience rides along passed the Place de la Concorde and the famous Champs-Élysées.

The sound of the car was apparently dubbed with that of the Ferrari 275GTB's V12 engine noise, Lelouch admitted in a documentary.

In the 2020 remake, we are assured it's a Ferrari and an SF90 Stradale at that.

Behind-the-scenes footage shows Leclerc power the most powerful Ferrari production car yet around the tight streets.

The SF90 Stradale is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged engine delivering a massive 574kW and 800Nm. Ferrari quote the maximum power from the electric motors at 162kW and the battery has a capacity of 7.9kWh.

In electric mode, the range is quoted at 25km.

The first Ferrari sports car to be equipped with four wheel drive, and the automaker says a new benchmark has been set for standing starts: 0-100km/h in 2.5 sec and 0-200km/h in just 6.7 seconds.

Ferrari says: "The company has continued to demonstrate its commitment to fighting the Covid-19 crisis through concrete support ranging from fundraisers, to the distribution of healthcare equipment to hospitals, to the production of respiratory conversion valves at the Maranello factory, to the most recent expression of transfer technology represented in the design of a new pulmonary ventilator, FI5, offered in open source production at global level."
