Audi South Africa's performance car portfolio will receive an injection in the third quarter of 2021 with the launch of the S3 Sedan and Sportback models. 

The S3 is of course the sportier version of the brand's A3 and the S3 fills in below the inevitable RS3. 

The latest model is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine with 228kW and 400Nm mated to a seven-speed S Tronic gearbox, both models will reach 100km/h from standstill in 4.8 seconds. Top speed is claimed 250km/h. 

As with all fast Audis, the S3 is fitted with quattro four-wheel-drive and comes standard with an S-specific sport suspension that lowers the body by 15mm. The damper control system is optional. 

The S3 is fitted with the brand's familar drive select modes, dynamic being the sportiest setting.

The new car boasts a similar front-end to to the new A1, it sports a singleframe with its large rhombus-patterned grille. At the rear the S3 illustrates its sporty intentions with a large diffuser and the four exhaust tailpipes. 

Audi has opted to fit the S3 with 18-inch wheels in standard specification with 19-inch wheels available as an option. 

Inside the cabin is 'focused on the driver' and sports a 26cm digital display is offered as standard. The optional virtual cockpit system and its "plus" version can be selected. Both have a 31cm diagonal screen, with the latter also offering three different screens.
