This is how much the 2017 Toyota C-HR costs in SA

Cape Town - Ahead of its launch this week, Toyota has published prices of its new C-HR crossover.

South Africans will receive three models, all powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine delivering 85kW/185Nm through the front wheels through either a six-speed manual or a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

Look out for Wheels24's Janine van der Post's driving impression of the CH-R later this week.

The Coupé High Rider (C-HR), shown at the 2016 Geneva motor show, is positioned beneath the Rav4 in the local line-up and competes against the Nissan Juke, Mazda CX-3 and the recently launched Audi Q2.

The TNGA platform and its low centre of gravity, says Toyota, allows the C-HR to carry its speed through corners, with "excellent body control and steering fluidity".

It has a wrap-around LED headlights, slender upper grille (front) and assertive lines along its flanks.

Pricing

1.2T - R318 500

1.2T Plus - R345 000

1.2T PLUS CVT - R356 000
