Kia has been on the reveal offensive as of late, and the spree continues with the updated Stinger. The Korean automaker released the first images of the Stinger's refreshed design, although the overall changes extend to both the exterior and interior.

On the outside, buyers have a greater option to customize the look of their Stinger, while the cabin features higher-quality materials and an updated infotainment system.

Karim Habib, senior vice-president and head of Kia Global Design, commented: "The Stinger projects an air of elegance and comfort, and also great purpose, for long-distance driving. The updated model builds on the svelte Gran Turismo design we introduced three years ago with modern flair and a subtle hint of aggression to enhance its on-road presence. The interior, too, has been enhanced, and the new design elements and technologies incorporated into the Stinger reconfirm its credentials as the consummate grand tourer."

Changes explained

Kia says that they darkened the headlamps on the new design and make it sleeker, too. The 'tiger-nose' grille remains and takes center stage between the headlights. At the rear, a new light signature makes its appearance and extends the full width of the car. The rear indicators comprise of 10 individual LED units each, mimicking the appearance of a checkered flag.

If you opt for the more powerful Stinger, you can specify larger wide-bore polished silver exhaust mufflers and a performance-inspired rear diffuser. Kia will also introduce to new 18- and 19-inch aluminium alloy wheels.

Inside, the dashboard remains driver-orientated and is finished with a new contrast stitching. The center console can be ordered with aluminium or carbon fibre-style trim. The lower section of the steering wheel features a metallic finish, which, according to Kia, compliments the chrome bezel that surrounds the 7.0-inch fully-digital instrument cluster.

Sitting atop the dash is Kia's upgraded 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment and navigation system.

The enhanced Kia Stinger is scheduled to go on sale in Korea during the third quarter of 2020, with sales in many of Kia's global markets to follow. However, Kia Motors South Africa has no immediate plans to introduce the enhanced Stinger to the local market.
