The best VW Golf 8 images yet! Could this be the production-ready R-Line?

When it comes to the new Golf 8, South Africans want to know as much as possible about the latest news is on the ‘people’s car’.

Expected locally at the end of 2020 in GTI guise, local fans of the brand had to subdue their taste buds through spy photos, limited information tidbits, and speculations on what we can expect on the newest generation for the past couple of years.

Now, however, we have images of what seems to be a production-ready Golf 8. And yes, it looks pretty hot!

Quad exhausts?

The vehicle in the picture looks to be the TSI model with an R-Line body kit. How we know that it’s not the GTI or R model, is because the vehicle does not have any of those badges. And, the GTI and R models are unlikely to feature an R-Line body kit, given their already-sporty design.

Starting at the front of the pictured car, the nose is a lot cleaner and smoother than ever before. A chrome strip runs between the daytime-running LED headlights, and the ‘R’ sign sits to the right of the new VW badge. The air inlets are pretty massive too!

At the rear, one can see a smoother design and quad exhaust pipes. Rear fog lights sit on both sides of the rear bumper, above each exhaust outlet. The ‘Golf’ name sits below the new badge. A rear-diffuser finds itself between the exhaust outlets, stretching underneath the car.

We also have images of the interior: two tablet-sized screens sit atop the dashboard, and the overall look of the cabin looks clean and uncluttered. A small gear lever finds its way to the middle console. It definitely is different from the gear lever doing duty in the current Golf 7.5.

If these images are anything to go by, then Volkswagen will again move the goalposts forward to what its new Golf 8 will have on offer for fans from all over the world.
