Suzuki Jimny, Kia Sportage, BMW X5 - Here are some of the new models arriving in South Africa during November

The end of the year is upon us but there is still an onslaught of vehicles being launched locally. November sees a bevy of SUVs revving into the market.

There are compact crossovers, rugged SUVs and people movers, something for everyone out of a variety of automaker stables.

What to look forward to

1. Kia Sportage

Kia will be launching its upgraded Sportage later this month, right on the heels of first deliveries in Europe as well. The new model pairs an updated exterior and interior design with new safety and infotainment technologies.

The Sportage's advanced new EcoDynamic+ 48V diesel mild-hybrid powertrain is the first to be launched as part of the brand’s global powertrain electrification strategy.

Kia will launch 16 advanced powertrain vehicles by 2025, including five new hybrids, five plug-in hybrids, five battery-electric vehicles and, in 2020, a new fuel-cell electric vehicle.

Earlier in August, Suzuki revealed its all-new Jimny at the Johannesburg Festival of Motoring.

Wheels24's Janine Van der Post will be attending the launch in Hazyview in Mpumalanga over the next couple of days, look out for her driving impressions later in the week.

3. BMW X5

The German automaker is further adding to its artillery with the refreshed X5 SUV that is due to be launched later this month.

Wheels24's Janine Van der Post will be attending the launch that takes place in George later in November.

4. Datsun Go and GO+

The all-new Go and Go+ models sport all new features like dual airbags, ABS and parking sensors. Styling has been tweaked and gone is the front love seat and the centre-console mounted gear lever of yesteryear.

Van der Post also attended a sneak preview of the new offerings on show in Cape Town. The official launch will take place later this month.

5. Hyundai Sante Fe

Hyundai has had a busy year and while we're still embracing the launch of the new Kona, the Korean automaker is getting ready to unleash yet another vehicle. The brand's flagship model launches towards the end of October.

The official launch will be held later this month.

6. Mercedes-Benz X-Class V6

Mercedes-Benz is upping the ante in the local bakkie segment with the introduction of the more powerful V6 variant.

The bakkie will go on sale early next year and compete with the likes of the Ford Ranger and Toyota Hilux.
