SEE | Six rivals Mitsubishi's new Xpander will come up against in 2021

accreditation

• All-new Xpander to arrive early 2021.

• Xpander powered by 1.5-litre engine.

• Pricing will be announced closer to the launch.

Come 2021, Mitsubishi will expand its local offering with a new seven-seater MPV. Called the Xpander, the family car will look to take on established rivals.

The Xpander is already on sale in some international markets, and the automaker has started the homologation process in preparation for the launch early next year.

Mitsubishi South Africa said in a statement: "The Xpander is an extremely practical family-orientated seven-seater where all the seats behind the front row can be folded down and out of the way, converting the interior to a massive space for bigger items such as sporting adventure gear."

The MPV will be powered by a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine.

When it arrives, it will go up against established rivals such as the Toyota Avanza and Suzuki Ertiga. We list several competitors, as well as their engines and power outputs.
