Porsche's new Macan GTS brings the performance factor full circle

Porsche is tearing up the scripted manual with its new performance-orientated Macan GTS.

So what makes its so special? Perfectly positioned under the bonnet is a 2.9-litre V6 twin-turbocharged engine with an effective power output of 280kW and a mammoth 520Nm. It fits straight onto Porsche's famed PDK dual-clutch transmission, helping the 2 400kg juggernaught reach the 100km/h mark in 4.7-seconds with a top speed of 261km/h. It has a claimed fuel consumption figure of 9.6l/100km.

Books are already open for South African orders which will arrive towards the end of Q1 in 2020. Porsche SA says pricing starts from R1 349 000 for the base model and includes a three-year / 100 000km DrivePlan.

Beauty and the beast

Besides being fast it looks the part the as well. The 20-inch RS Spyder Design wheels covered in satin black cannot be overlooked while the lowered chassis adds further assertiveness to its appearance. Adaptive air suspension is also available to lower the frame by a further 10mm.
