Cape Town - Peugeot unveiled its new 3008 in May 2016, and now a GT version is being added to the line-up.
The 3008 GT will be sold alongside the usual 3008 from October 2016, and in South Africa from 2017.
The 3008 GT, says Peugeot, is “a truly modern expression of driving pleasure, aimed at aesthetes who are looking for a new driving experience”.
Whether the company’s new challenger will live up to this hype remains to be seen.
Trendy interior
The interior of the 3008 GT sports copper double topstitching on the dashboard trim, door trim panels and central armrests. At the bottom of the compact steering wheel the GT logo is engraved on chromed steel.

Sporty, assertive design
The exterior design of the new Peugeot 3008 GT adopts specific features to give the car its exclusive feel, says Peugeot. The French automaker says the design is expressive, yet consistent with other 3008 models.
The new radiator grille is broad and surrounded by a strip of "Sanded Chrome", with the brand's emblem placed in the centre.

The 3008 GT’s profile is highlighted by the stainless steel rear quarter light and window weatherstrips, says Peugeot, and a stainless steel trim runs along the roof to the rear spoiler. 19" wheel rims are housed inside widened wheel arches.
Double chrome exhaust pipes are located on either end of the rear bumper.
Familiar drivetrain
The 3008 GT will only be available with Peugeot’s 2.0-litre diesel engine, mated with a six-speed automatic gearbox. The engine, with BlueHDi 180 nomenclature, produces 135kW and sends power to the front wheels.
