In March 2020, Suzuki South Africa revealed its new S-Presso in digital fashion.
The shot of coffee in Suzuki’s arsenal not only looks to rattle its rivals, but also wake South Africa up to the smell of affordable motoring.
Did it succeed? Well, it’s a bit early to tell, but what we do know is that the S-Presso range is comprehensive enough to rival both the Renault Kwid and Datsun Go.
Financial win
But that’s with regards to the package. What about the financial side? Because surely that’s where Suzuki is aiming to hit the mark. And they do, too!
The S-Presso’s entry-level model, the 1.0 GL, is the most affordable car in SA! It beats the likes of the Go 1.2 Mid (R165 800), BAIC D20 (R149 990), Kwid 1.0 Expression (R144 900), and Mahindra KUV100 Nxt 1.2 K2+ (R142 999).
In fact, our lockdown wheels, the S-Presso 1.0 GL+, retails for R139 900 and is fitted with a rear-view camera!
Keeping that in mind, here’s how much you could pay for the S-Presso 1.0 GL+ per month.

Monthly budget
Given the fraught state of our economy, South Africans will be hesitant to splash a lot of cash on a new vehicle. That’s where the S-Presso comes in as an alternative for those having to consider the monthly budget.
And because everyone wants to own a new car at some point, Suzuki is trying to meet buyers halfway. So, by how much will an S-Presso GL+ set you back every month?

Firstly, factors like a deposit, interest rate, and credit score all play a part in what you’ll pay when deductions come around. Here’s what a new buyer could possibly look at:
• Price: R139 900
• Interest rate: 14% (depending on your credit rating)
• Deposit: R0
• Trade-in: R0
• Residual: R0
• Period: 54 months (5 years)
• Monthly payment: R3348
• Total payment: R180 799
A deposit of R14 000 (10%) will cut the monthly installment by around R200, while an interest rate of 11% could shave a further R200 off the amount.
Remember, these figures are only representative and can differ from buyer to buyer. The monthly repayment also excludes insurance and fuel costs, but Suzuki does offer a service plan and warranty as standard.
