Jaguar's updated XJ range: Flagship 300km/h XJR 575 for SA

Pretoria – Jaguar SA has announced a range of enhancements to its local XJ line-up.

The 2018 model year (2018MY) updates include the launch of its XJR 575 performance flagship locally.

The updated XJ range now sports a host of technology and safety upgrades.

The 2018MY Jaguar XJ range will, says the automaker, go on sale later in 2017.

New XJR 575

The new XJR 575 is powered by delivered by a 5.0-litre V8 supercharged engine, capable of 423kW/700Nm (up by 18kW). The V8 rockets the luxury sports sedan from 0-100km/h in 4.4 seconds and to a top speed of 300km/h.

The XJR is Jaguar’s fastest production sedan. Customers will be able to choose between two bespoke exterior colours (blue and grey) created at the automaker's Special Vehicle Operations in England.

Exterior details include a spoiler, side-sills and front air intakes in black. Updated XJR 575 exterior badging and twin bonnet louvres seperate the vehicle from the standard XJ. It's also fitted with 20" Farallon gloss-black wheels with red painted brake calipers. 

Inside the XJR575 features bespoke embossed tread plates, diamond-quilted seating available in black or white colour options and finished with additional 575 branding.

The enhanced XJ range sports a number of technology upgrades such as 4G Wi-Fi capability, allowing occupants to stay online on the move with as many as eight devices.

In addition, the central console now features a larger 10" touchscreen.

In terms of safety, the XJ benefits from, Forward Traffic Detection, Lane Keep Assist, and Driver Condition Monitor - able to identify periods of little or no steering activity followed by sudden or excessive inputs from the driver.

• Reconfigurable 12.3-inch TFT instrument cluster offers full-screen navigation
• All-Surface Progress Control enhances traction on low-friction surfaces such as snow and ice – all the driver has to do is steer
• Black Pack options for enhanced exterior styling
• Driver Assistance systems including, Adaptive Cruise Control with Queue Assist, Reverse Traffic Detection, Blind Spot Monitoring, 360-degree Surround Camera System and semi-automated bay- and parallel-parking.
