Car photographer Wilco Blok posted an image on Instagram of what looks to be the upcoming Volkswagen Golf GTi.
The photograph is of the rear of the hot hatch and features twin exhaust pipes, a rear diffuser and a rather large black rear spoiler.
The wheels look to be 17-inch examples and it remains to be seen what sizes are offered to the car that will go on sale in South Africa at the end of 2020.
While the Golf 8 was unveiled in Germany in October 2019, the GTi model will make its world debut at the Geneva motor show in Switzerland from March 5-15 according to Autocar.
There are no surprises in the engine department, with VW carrying over the MkVII's EA888 2.0-litre turbocharged engine producing 180kW (up from 169kW). Autocar says the torque figure has been raised to 370Nm from 350Nm.
Top speed is likely to be around 250km/h and the 0-100km/h sprint will dip below six seconds.
The GTI will arrive in South Africa in the last quarter of 2020, TSi and R models will join the range thereafter.
