During the first six months of 2019, the BMW X5 solidified its position as the best-selling large luxury SUV in South Africa.

The German SUV amassed a sales figure of 715 units, beating the likes of the Toyota Land Cruiser 200 and Range Rover/RR Sport.

The Land Cruiser 200 found favour among 611 new owners, followed by another Toyota, the Prado, which sits pretty in third place with 567 units sold.

Strong contenders

The RR/RR Sport slots into fourth place with a sales figure of 542 units, way clear of the Land Rover Discovery on 267 units. Volvo’s XC90 secured a sales figure of 214 units, ahead of the very beautiful Range Rover Velar on 194 units.

Jeep’s Grand Cherokee had a bit of a quiet year, but it slips into eighth place with a respectable 185 units sold. Volkswagen’s luxurious Touareg is ninth with 179 units sold.

Jaguar’s F-Pace is another SUV that saw a lackluster 2019 but it managed to slip into tenth place with a decent 136 units sold. This is some way off its performances the last couple of years.

In total, the top ten secured a total sales figure of 2895 units.
