All you need to know about Haval’s all-new H2

Since coming to market in May 2017, Haval South Africa has been a fresh, new offering in the mid-size SUV market. Leading the charge back then was the H2.

This SUV came up against rivals such as the Renault Duster and Ford EcoSport.

And while its rivals returned respectable sales figures over, the H2 had to, basically, start from scratch. In its first month, June 2017, it registered 34 units.

At the end of December 2019, Haval sold 464 units for the month.

According to Haval, they are averaging around 400 units per month over this period.

The new-generation H2 will look to continue the trend set by its forebearer and build on the 7235 units sold to date.

In a nutshell

The new Haval H2 is available solely as a two-wheel drive model. Power can be sent to the front wheels either via a six-speed manual gearbox, or a six-speed automatic. Two trim levels are on offer: City and Luxury.

Haval SA says that they gave particular attention to the ergonomics of the new H2, having taken up a ‘humanistic approach’. Part of that includes a 3D multi-functional dashboard that, Haval says, shows essential driving information such as fuel consumption, and remaining driving mileage. Apple CarPlay comes standard.

A turbocharged 1.5-litre petrol engine does duty in the H2 and, says the automaker, produces 105kW and 202Nm.
