Nissan’s compact SUV, the X-Trail, was launched in 2001 and since then has had several upgrades/model changes; it's now taking on 2012 with more upgrades to specific models and "a refreshed attitude to living the X-Life".
More than 22 000 X-Trails have been sold in SA since 2001 to beat, according to Nissan, its nearest competitor by 41% and to have been the top-selling compact SUV for seven years. The automaker also sees it and its 203mm ground clearance and good looks as creating "a zesty SUV in keeping with typical South African lifestyles".
Now the XE and SE models have been given feature updates.
The XE gains a USB port for media integration, Bluetooth for hands-free cellphone connectivity and audio streaming, and a multi-function steering wheel. SE models also gain a USB port and Bluetooth audio streaming which works in harmony with the existing Bluetooth hands-free system.
LE models retain their premium specification, including a standard six-CD front-loader.
STILL-RARE FEATURES
The X-Trail already has storage bins, pockets and a large glove box with heating/cooling, class-leading luggage capacity, purposeful approach and departure angles and an award-winning all-wheel drive system.
Variously, the X-Trail has a number of still-rare features, among them a reversing camera, three transmission options (manual, auto or CVT), under-floor drawers in the boot, independent multi-link rear suspension and keyless entry.
