Volvo Cars has released the first images of the R-Design version of its new SA-bound XC90.
The R-Design sports new exterior enhancements such a new grille, spoiler, metal window surround, integrated dual exhausts, integrated silver roof rails and silver matt mirror covers. It has unique 20" R-Design alloys.
The R-Design follows Volvo’s release of 1927 individually numbered black First Edition XC90’s which, according to the automaker, were sold out in 47 hours.

Volvo's senior vice-president of marketing, sales and customer service, Alain Visser, said: “R-Design is created for people with a passion for things that add spice to life. It appeals to customers that love active driving and a personal, expressive design.
"Every single R-Design detail is designed to contribute to the individualistic and refined expression these customers desire.”

Inside, it benefits from R-Design details, such as leather sports seats, new pedals, special floor mats and illuminated tread plates. The driver also receives an exclusive R-Design leather remote control. The control display also features a unique R-Design theme.
The core of the new XC90 range will be the Momentum, R-Design and Inscription variants.
Visser said: “In principle, we have replaced the previous top level with the Inscription and R-Design versions. Both of them feature an elevated content, carefully chosen to emphasise each of their distinctive individual personalities.”
HEADED FOR SA
The new XC90 is set to arrive in South Africa during the second half of 2015. Which models can be expected will be announced closer to the launch date, the local company added, but prices could be expected to start at just under R800 000.
