In December 2013, Wheels24 reported that Ford’s iconic pony car, the Mustang, is headed for South Africa in right-hand drive guise.
The new Mustang will be offered with three petrol engines (2.3-litre EcoBoost, 3.7 V6 and 5.0 V8) and two transmissions (six-speed manual or auto).

TURBOCHARGED ECOBOOST
The new 2.3-litre EcoBoost is the first Ford engine to use have a low-inertia twin-scroll turbocharger that "provides quicker boost response, improved efficiency and lower emissions".
The EcoBoost engine, developed specifically for the Mustang, has a projected output of more than 227kW/400Nm.
V8 MUSCLE
No Mustang line-up would be complete without a V8 and the one powering the top model of the proposed 2014 range has a number of upgrades to enable it to generate 318kW/529Nm and "will result in improved fuel-consumption and lower emissions".
The middle child of the engine line-up is the 3.7 V6 that's capable of 227kW.
Paddle-shifts are standard with the Mustang's six-speed auto and Getrag manual has been designed "to improve precision".
Models destined for South Africa have yet to be confirmed.
