HONG KONG - Infiniti is pressing ahead with its plans to showcase its Q50 Eau Rouge prototype at the 2014 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition in April.

The Q50 Eau Rouge, named after the high-speed corner at the Spa-Francorchamps race circuit in Belgium, is being evaluated by the automaker’s performance director and Red Bull’s four-times Formula 1 champion Sebastian Vettel.

The Q50 Eau Rouge is powered by a turbocharged 3.8-litre V6, borrowed from Nissan’s GT-R, tuned to 417kW/600Nm. According to Infinti, its V6 unit could rocket the sports car from 0-100km/h in less than four seconds and on to a top speed of 290km/h.

Vettel tested the high-performance sports sedan at the Millbrook testing facility in England. His feedback will be used in the next stage of the prototype’s development.

Infiniti will release more information of its Q50 Eau Rouge prototype at the 2014 Beijing auto show on April 20.
