The Crew Cab sees the T5 in both short and long wheel base configurations coming with a larger luggage compartment as a result of the rear seat being completely removed, with the space being closed off and utilised exclusively for carting luggage.

This new configuration is ideal for a variety of applications ranging from private outdoors activity use to small and medium sized business owners who do their own deliveries while also looking after their family needs.

Two engines are available for the Crew Cab. First in line is the 1.9 TDI producing 77 kW and a healthy 250 Nm of torque.

It comes with standard air conditioning, airbags, ABS, tracttion control and many other comfort and safety mechanisms.

The electronic stability programme (ESP) is an option.

Transmission to the front wheels is via a five-speed manual gearbox.

The short wheel base costs R230 670 while the long wheel base costs R235 670.

The top of the range is the 2.5 TDI produces 128kW and 400Nm of torque while Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox. The short wheel base costs R259 000 while the long wheel base will set you back R264 000.

Panelvan

To further cater for a purely commercial application, Volkswagen SA is introducing the T5 Panelvan with a loading capacity of 1 ton. Engines offered are exactly the same as the Crew Cab.

At R198 730 is the 1.9TDI short wheel base, with an extra R5 000 buying the long wheel base. R226 230 buys the short wheel base 128kW 2.5TDI, with R231 230 being enough to get the long wheel base version.

Volkswagen SA's latest commercial vehicles come with Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles' 2 year unlimited mileage warranty and a 12 year anti-corrosion warranty.

Service intervals are at every 15 000 for all models, while an oil change is required every 7 500km for the TDI models.

According to VWSA the introduction of the 2.0 85kW petrol engine on the T5 Panelvan and Crew Cab has been delayed indefinitely. Notification will be sent out as soon as it becomes available. The range therefore comprises the 1.9TDI 77kw and 128kW 2.5TDI only.
