FUTURE PROOF: Audi's urban concept for the 2011 Frankfurt show could be a tiny, two-seater with big potential.
FUTURE PROOF: Audi's urban concept for the 2011 Frankfurt show could be a tiny, two-seater with big potential.
Audi will show its urban concept at the 2011 Frankfurt auto show - a 1+1 ultra-light car perfect, it says, for tight city spaces.

Audi’s urban concept is said to combine the elements of a race car with a fun city car to produce a concept carrying no excess weight and that concentrates on "sporty motion".

The study has wheels that are free-standing, with protective plates bearing blinking strips of LEDs, while the cabin holds two people but has a roof that slides open to the rear for extra head room.

LIGHT ELECTRIC

SOMEWHAT SNUG: The urban concept has space for two people although we suspect things may become a little tight.

However, things could become a bit awkward, as entry to the tight cabin is via the tail.

It appears the urban concept is a showcase for Audi’s lightweight construction endeavours, though. The cabin, plus the seat undercarriages, are made of lightweight carbon fibre-reinforced polymer/

Two e-tron electric motors provide propulsion.
