PSA Peugeot Citroën is presenting an innovative electric vehicle concept for getting around in a city at a forum organised by the French Environment and Energy Management Agency.
Known by its French acronym VELV, the electric vehicle was developed by a consortium of French companies and a research laboratory who joined forces to meet mobility challenges of the future.
The VELV is an electric three-wheeler, three-seater with a power train capable of producing 20kW for 650kg. The vehicle has a claimed range of 100km and can accelerate up to 110 km/h.
LIKE A TRAIN TRIP
We don’t doubt it could reach 110km/h but, at 20kW, it would be a question of when…perhaps 110 in an hour?
The project’s objective is to significantly reduce the amount of on-board energy and the VELV consumes only 8.5 kW/h, this means its environmental footprint is equivalent to that of a train trip.
The concept is aimed at corporate fleets, traditional rental companies and customers who want an alternative to fossil-fuel vehicles.
