Suzuki's new Ciaz sedan arrives in SA

JOHANNESBURG, Gauteng - Suzuki South Africa expands its local passenger car range with the launch of its new Ciaz sedan.

The Ciaz, the automaker says,  "allows Suzuki to compete in the popular compact sedan segment for the first time and extends its potential reach to include customers seeking a larger sedan than the Swift DZire."

Offered in a choice of two specification levels, GL and GLX, the new Ciaz is priced from R179 000.

POWER

Powering the new Ciaz is an updated version of Suzuki’s K14B four-cylinder engine. The 1.4-litre petrol is capable of 70kW/130Nm mated to a five-speed manual driving power to the front wheels. A four-speed auto is available for the GLX variant.

Fuel consumption is cycle fuel consumption is 5.4-litres/100km for the manual and 5.5-litres/100km for the auto, with emissions of 125 and 131g/km respectively.

Suzuki Auto SA's, managing director, Yukio Sato, said: "The advent of the new Suzuki Ciaz represents the next step in our strategy to increase the Suzuki brand’s market share in South Africa by expanding our model offering.

“We have already achieved record sales by adding newcomers such as the Swift 1.2, the Ertiga and the Splash to our model line-up, while the new-generation SX4 and the recently released Celerio are proof of our commitment to bringing Suzuki’s latest models to SA.”

STANDARD KIT

It's extensive list of standard kit includes power windows and power side-mirrors, 15" steel rims remote central locking, aircon, six-speaker CD audio, Bluetooth, USB and Aux connectivity, 12V accessory socket, tilt-adjustable multifunction steering wheel, digital display, remote release for both fuel-filler flap and boot.

In terms of safety it's equipped with dual airbags, inertial reel seatbelts with pre-tensioners and load limiters, side-impact beams, anti-lock braking systems with electronic brakeforce distribution and brake assist, alarm/immobiliser and child-proof door locks.

GLX UPGRADE

The GLX version gains 16" alloy rims, fog lights, chrome details along the windows, boot lid and door releases. The side-mirrors gain a folding function.

Inside it gains leather details, leather steering wheel as well as black accents on the gear shifter, dashboard, air vents and door panels. The GLX receives a chromed gear shift knob, while additional illumination includes rear reading lights and front footwell lighting.

Additional features include rear sunshade, sunglass holder, height-adjustable drivers seat, keyless entry and start.

Prices include a three-year or 100 000km warranty, and a three-year or 60 000km service plan. Services are at 15 000km intervals.
