Slick Infiniti Q30 for Frankfurt

HONG KONG, China - Infiniti will unveil its Q30 Concept at the 2013 Frankfurt auto show in Germany in September.

According to Infiniti, the Q30 Concept is its next step into the new premium segment and signals the contemporary design vision for a compact Infiniti vehicle targeting new customers.

Infiniti president Johan de Nysschen says: “This Q30 Concept is a prelude to the product portfolio expansion which underpins our aggressive global growth strategy. In our quest to appeal to the modern, young-minded premium customer, the Q30 Concept has a distinctive style and reaches new levels of product quality.”

YOUNGER CUSTOMERS

The company says that, as with the Q50, the Infiniti Q30 Concept has dramatic design cues from the Infiniti concept trilogy – Essence, Etherea and Emerg-e. The Q50 made its world debut at the 2013 Detroit auto show in January.

Infiniti’s design director Alfonso Albaisa said: “The Q30 Concept is slender, sleek and seductive.  When you see speedy big cats, such as cheetah, they have a slenderness and a lightweight stride. It’s almost like they’re floating. That’s the muscularity we were aiming for with Q30 Concept.”

According to the automaker, Red Bull’s triple Formula 1 champion Sebastian Vettel was involved in honing the driving dynamics of the Infiniti Q50 and is engaging with Infiniti’s technical teams around the world as part of a commitment to infuse the brand with race-bred performance.

The forthcoming compact entry will be the first model influenced by Vettel from his joining the company as "director of performance".
