SA-bound Suzy Celerio: UK prices, specs

  • Arrives in SA February 2015
  • SZ3 includes aircon, Bluetooth, rims
  • Luggage capacity 254 litres
  • 99g/km CO2 emissions

LONDON, England - The Celerio, Suzuki’s all-new global compact city car known in India as the Maruti Celerio, will go on sale in the UK and South Africa from February 2015.

The name apparently means 'celestial river' in Hindi. But we stand to be corrected...

Prices and specifications for the UK models have been announced: the equivalent of R144 000 for the highly equipped SZ3 model and R161 000 for the SZ4.

Suzuki believes it is known as the "small car experts" and says the Celerio is a compact car with ease-of-drive while providing an elevated driving position, interior space that surpasses most conventional A-segment cars and a class leading luggage capacity of 254 litres.

PACKED WITH GOODIES

Standard in the Celerio SZ3 are six airbags (driver, passenger, side and curtain), ESP*, aircon, alloy rims, DAB radio, CD tuner, USB, Bluetooth connectivity and remote central-locking.

The SZ4 adds polished alloy rims, rear electric windows, front fog lights, body coloured door mirrors and chromed grille.

The Celerio is 3.6m long, 1.6m wide and has a turning circle of 9.4m, which makes it, Suzuki says, one of the most manoeuvrable in its class.

It's 1.54m high and its curved roof allows greater headroom for occupants; the 2.42m wheelbase provides legroom of 743mm which gives plenty of space in the cabin for five occupants, says the automaker.

The Celerio claims low CO2 emissions of 99g/km and 4.3 litres/100km on the EC combined cycle from its one-litre, three-cylinder, 50kW engine.
