The all-new Renault Twingo will spearhead the French automaker’s updated visual identity when it is launched early in 2012.
For its latest iteration, the Twingo loses some of its toy-like features and returns to its roots with a more assertive and expressive - dare we say Gallic? - nose.
As before, environmental friendliness and fuel-efficiency are promised as two of the Twingo’s strong points and Renault is said to have focused largely on improving the Twingo’s engines and aerodynamics. The automaker quotes a combined fuel consumption of 3.2 litres/100km and CO2 emission of 85g/km for its 1.5 dCi turbodiesel due later in 2012.
MORE RS, PLEASE
The littlest Renault will also offer its owners more in the way of accessories with which to customise the interior and exterior. However, it’s likely that power-hungry South Africans will be most keen to sample the Renault Sport Gordini version.
According to Renault South Africa, it will be available when the new Twingo range is launched (from around May 2012). Stating, “it is too soon to share product details and pricing”, we’ll have to wait until next year to get the local details.
Expect the regular Twingo RS hot hatch to make an appearance, too.
For its home market, Renault boasts its Twingo will enjoy “best-in-class status, unequalled versatility, interior space and a raft of engines”.

SOLID INTENTIONS: Even the leather-trimmed cabin of the Twingo Renault Sport Gordini is menacing (in a cute way, of course...)
