LONDON, England - A supercar that had its official world premier in Shanghai, China, early in 2013 has popped up again, this time in London at the Salon Prive which opened on July 4, American Independence Day.
It's called the Icona Vulcano and will have its UK sales debut in September 2013. Meanwhile, it's on show until July 6 at the salon.
The automaker Icona was established in 2010 and launched with an electric concept car called the Fuselage, which became a finalist at the 27th International Automobile Festival in Paris in the 'World’s Most Beautiful Concept Car' competition.
200KM/H - NINE SECONDS
Since then has come the V12 hybrid Icona, a glamorous two-door, two-seater supercar with a price tag, as a one-off, equivalent to R46-million.
The Vulcano's propulsion system (engine seems a trifle bland a term) can generate 710kW and take the supercar to 350km/h after reaching 200km/h in less than nine seconds. The car was engineered by former Scuderia Ferrari technical director Claudio Lombardi.
Sales director David Bagley commented: “Icona is a very exciting new brand and we are delighted that it has chosen Salon Privé for the UK debut of the Vulcano. It’s a beautiful car and it is going to look fantastic within the Concepts & Prototypes Display.”
if you're in London and want to pop along, the ticket price includes Pommery champagne, a lobster luncheon, English afternoon tea and full access to all areas. A boerewors braai was not mentioned, but sounds like rather more fun.
