The new X-Trail Outdoor Edition, with a price tag of R270 500, is equipped with a Towmaster tow bar as well as Thule roof bars to enable owners to take with them whatever they need to pursue their active lifestyle - from mountain bikes to canoes, water-skis, surfboards, windsurfers or hang gliders.
Inside the vehicle there are two-tone (stone with charcoal) tailor-made Takla seat covers with sport utility pockets.
The seat covers are waterproof, hardwearing and easy to clean. The synthetic fabric is military spec, durable and tough, but comfortable.
Also included is a Garmin all-purpose hand-held GPS unit packed with exciting features that is the ideal accessory for reaching extreme destinations. Lightweight, rugged and waterproof it offers a 256-colour, highly reflective display that makes for easy viewing in almost any lighting conditions.
Extra features include rapid automatic route calculation, an integrated outdoor calendar, a dedicated geo-caching mode, and indoor/outdoor GPS games. It is designed for land, marine and aviation use, and battery life in typical use is up to 30 hours.
According to Nissan South Africa the accessories were chosen to complement the X-Trail's "extreme lifestyle brand positioning" and to add value to the target customers' lifestyle and vehicle usage.
Based on the entry-level 4x4 X-Trail, the Outdoor Edition is powered by Nissan's 2.5-litre four cylinder engine that develops 132 kW at 6 000 r/min and 245 Nm of torque at 4 000 r/min through a manual five-speed transmission.
