New kit, auto for popular RAV4

  • 2.2 D-4D engine now available
  • VX trim with auto
  • New 18” alloys for 2.5 VX

In April 2013, Toyota launched its fourth-generation RAV4 in South Africa. Now, a year later, the automaker has bolstered its local line-up with the launch of a new auto transmission and increased trim for its top-of-the-range 2.2D.

The 2.2-litre D-4D diesel engine, previously available with five-speed manual and GX trim, is now available with a new six-speed auto and higher-spec VX trim.

The entire range will benefit from a new touch-screen multimedia system and the 2.5 VX variant has 18” multi-spoke alloys.

ENGINES

The RAV4 comprises of three four-cylinder engines, starting with a 107kW 2.0-litre petrol for the two-wheel drive (2WD) variants. All-wheel drive (AWD) versions can be specified with a 110 kW 2.2-litre turbo-diesel or a 132 kW 2.5-litre petrol.

The 2WD variants are fitted with a six-speed manual gearbox or Toyota's Multidrive S auto. Petrol AWD variants are equipped with a six-speed auto while diesel engines can be mated to a six-speed manual or auto.

LUXURY TRIM

The new 2.2D VX auto is equipped with leather upholstery, power adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar support, heatable front seats, auto aircon, a reversing camera, a powered tailgate, cruise control and keyless entry. The RAV4 is equipped with seven airbags.

The new RAV4 is sold with a three year or 100 000km warranty and a five-year or 90 000km service plan.
