Wheels24's Wilmer Muller is at the launch of the fifth generation Jetta in Mpumalanga and will give his impressions of the car on Monday.
The Jetta engine range includes the 1.6 (75 kW), 1.9 TDI, 2.0 (85 kW), 2.0 FSI (110 kw), 2.0T DI (103 kW) and 2.0T FSI (147 kW).
These derivatives come with a range of gearbox options which include manual, Tiptronic and DSG transmissions.
Its basic shape reflects VW's new design direction as already seen in the Golf GTI and more recently the Passat. However, the most striking feature of the new Jetta is the front, with its chrome-framed radiator grille.
Another notable feature of the new Jetta is that boot volume has increased with 72 litres to 527 litres, which VW claims is one of the most spacious in its class.
