Toyota unveiled its Etios concept at the Delhi Auto Expo 2010 in India on Thursday.

Touted to be a compact car developed for the Indian market, Toyota showcased the Etios in 1.5l sedan and 1.2l hatchback guise.

The Etios is aimed at family users in India and is slated to compete with the likes of Suzuki's Swift.

Chief engineer Yoshinori Noritake says more than 2 000 engineers have been involved in the development of the Etios over the past four years

“I am convinced that the Etios will offer joy of ownership and quality of life to consumers,” says Noritake.

Toyota will produce the Etios later this year and has plans to export it globally.
